New title: Chief medical officer, Amwell, and president, Amwell Medical Group
Horner will oversee clinical aspects of the telehealth vendor’s product strategy and work with health systems and payers to implement the company’s digital health products, Amwell announced Thursday.
In addition to the CMO role, she’ll head up Amwell’s medical group, which provides virtual primary care, urgent care, behavioral health and women’s healthcare. The group included 3,000 active providers in 2023, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Horner joined AMG in 2016 as a physician, and then served as medical director and the group’s head of general medicine and quality. She most recently worked as vice president of AMG, according to her LinkedIn.
The CMO announcement comes about a week after Amwell reported financial results for 2023, posting a $679.2 million net loss for the full year, compared with losses of $272.1 million in 2022.
Executives also said the telehealth vendor had reduced its headcount by about 10% since the end of 2023 as Amwell completed migrations to its new Converge platform and cut its research and development spending.
