Corazon, a Pittsburgh-based firm that offers consulting, accreditation, peer review, recruitment, and interim management for the cardiovascular, neuro, orthopedic, and surgical specialties is spearheading the shift to outpatient services by offering comprehensive consulting services to Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs). This service focuses on assisting ASCs in building out their cardiovascular services, ensuring they are well-equipped to deliver top-tier patient care and achieve operational excellence for higher acuity patients.
Corazon’s expert team brings extensive experience and a proven track record in the healthcare industry, offering a full suite of consulting services designed to support ASCs at every stage of their development. From strategic planning and program design to implementation, recruitment, interim management, and CV accreditation, Corazon provides tailored solutions to meet the unique needs of each ASC.
“Our goal is to empower ASCs to enhance their cardiovascular services, ultimately improving patient outcomes and operational efficiency,” said Karen Hartman, President of Corazon. “With our comprehensive approach, we guide ASCs through the complexities of program development, helping them to establish and sustain high-quality cardiovascular care. We can also accredit the cardiovascular component of the ASC and leverage our unique relationship with the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions (SCAI) to ensure best practice for cardiovascular procedures in this dynamic setting!”
Our ongoing work with the Springfield Clinic in Illinois exemplifies Corazon’s impact. Engaged in March 2022, Corazon developed a business plan to validate the expansion of invasive cardiology services in Springfield's newly constructed ASC. Our involvement included conducting a comprehensive market study, SWOT analysis, and operations evaluation and providing high-level education on cardiac cath lab staffing, patient selection, procedure types, and CMS reimbursement. Corazon also collaborated on the cath lab design and supported the clinic through an expedited project timeline, ensuring the timely submission of their Certificate of Need (CON) application. Since the Springfield Clinic successfully received their CON for their new CV ASC space, Corazon continues to assist with planning, development, and support for their cardiovascular services, aiming to retain cardiology patients locally and reduce the burden of distant hospital providers. By partnering with Corazon, ASCs can leverage the niched expertise and resources needed to successfully launch and sustain high-performing cardiovascular programs. This initiative aligns with Corazon’s commitment to advancing healthcare delivery and supporting the growth and success of ASCs nationwide.
