Mukono YEC Receives Equipment

Mukono Youth Empowerment Centres (YEC) at Kasawo Health Facility received equipment from Action 4 Health Uganda (A4HU) to facilitate their functionality and networking. The item received include; desk computer, desk Printer, mobile phone handset, office desk, book shelf and chair.  

The items were handed over by the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Mukono district who was represented by Mr. Mayanja Badru Majwara the deputy CAO. “Let us keep the equipment safely because this sets us ahead,” he said.

Mr. Mayanja noted that he had visited one of the tomato growing garden that is managed by the club and was impressed with what the young people are doing. He urged the kasawo Health facility in-charge to receive and register the equipment for accountability. A4HU supported kasawo Youth Group in growing Asilla Tomatoes as their income generating activity where they were provided with the seeds, wheelbarrows, spraying pumps, and fertilizers to foster their income generation.

A total of 5 youth groups that are supported in Mukono will have the opportunity to utilise the office in various way including improving their computer skills, report writing and ability to strengthen their networking skills through creation of websites, social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook.

“We believe this will support the office and facilitate the efforts of networking, resource mobilisation, improve on documentation as well as enhance their skills in computer knowledge,” Jane Wakikona, Program Manager, A4HU. Adding “A4HU has also supported all the YECS with similar equipment to facilitate their efforts in computer literacy, documentation as well as resource mobilisation.”

The A4HU program manager thanked the Mukono YEC for being one of the most outstanding in 2019. She said since the project is ending, there is need to show case for continuity.
